Why you need a manufacturer with a good design team

Do You Need to Consider a Diamond Core Drill?

Most of the time when drilling needs to be done, all that you need to think about is selecting an appropriately sized drill and ensuring that you have a stable hand-held or mounted rig to hold the drill in position while it is in operation. While that may be the usual process, there are always going to be times when drilling is more complex. Often it is the material through which you must drill that creates the problem. For softer materials, a standard drill will be fine, but if you need to drill through concrete, stone or even glass, then a different approach is needed.

Drilling through concrete

When you need to create precise holes in concrete, metal, tile or glass then the best solution is to use diamond core drills. Whether you have a duct that needs to be created in a tiled room or you must conduct a  concrete sample analysis, diamond core drills will be able to create the hole. The use of a diamond drill permits the creation of holes to an almost unlimited depth. One distinct advantage of this type of drilling is that it is a non-percussive technique so structural integrity will be upheld throughout the drilling process. Since water is generally run through the driving shaft of diamond core drills, the working environment will always remain free of dust.

Are there any other advantages of diamond core drills?

  • In addition to their accuracy and ability to cut through tough materials, diamond drills are normally lightweight, meaning that they are portable and can be fitted into locations where space is at a premium.
  • A further advantage of diamond drilling is that the drilling process is fairly quiet, so it can be carried out anywhere without the need for special soundproofing measures or waiting for people to leave the area before you can work.

How are diamond core drills powered?

In most cases, you will want to use an electrically powered drill but that isn't always the situation. Depending on the location where you are drilling you might prefer to use a hydraulically powered drill or even a drill that is driven by compressed air. To find out more about what types of diamond core drills are available, you should contact your nearest supplier.
